College kids care about their fitness

By Baneesha Mukherjee on May 20, 2017

It is finally here. Classes have ended for many college kids, and semester break is about to start. Most of them will probably start to hit the couches and watch TV, eat, and sleep in. This pattern is very common among all students, but what they don’t realize is this continuing pattern can affect their health. Sitting there, lying around and eating can lead to gaining weight in almost all people. Fitness is the solution to all of these problems.

For many college students, they don’t realize they have to continue exercising for the next four months in May, June, July and August. Studies show people as young as 19 years old will go through the process of constant weight gain because they are slowly turning into young adults. Sometimes, people can’t tell exactly if they are gaining weight unless they stand on a weight scale. For some, weight gain is when they check their BMI and the BMI chart tells them they are overweight; for others, it is when they are able to fit into their shorts from the day they first attend college freshman year, but after finishing their first year, they suddenly can’t fit into the same shorts anymore. This is a common example of weight gain that happens a lot in many young adults. During college, students have to walk from one building to another on campus in order to get where they want to go; walking from building to building is automatically exercise, especially when students need to go to their classes, do their laundry, and go to the cafeteria three times a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This exercise is very common, but during summer, students have to do more.

The gyms nearby are good places to do exercise, but some people don’t have time to go there every day. For others, working at the gym is boring. Wii Fit Plus is a common game for the Wii that makes fitness fun. It is a good tool for college students to use to get good exercise and burn off calories in order to lose a few pounds every two weeks or so; if students are too busy with other activities to go to the gym and do exercises, they can use the Wii Fit Plus game at home instead. Wii Fit Plus is one of the exercising tools college students can use to lose weight efficiently; some will be able to fit in their own clothes again after using it every day for the next four months.
